Partial Solar Eclipse

Hi everyone,

I am really struggling getting motivated at the moment with my photography, hence my absence from this site for a while.

Last Friday the UK witnessed a partial solar eclipse. I was in work but I took my camera with me and managed a few shots even though the forecast was heavy cloud. The occasional break in the cloud gave me views like this. This was taken toward the end of the eclipse.

The last time we had an eclipse, I had no interest in photography so this is the first opportunity I have had to take a photo of one.

All feedback is welcome and thanks for looking.

D700, Nikon 80-200. 6 stop ND filter, 1/400 sec, F/7.1, iso 400.

Nice, the clouds add some nice background to what otherwise would have been a black background.

It's funny how photography waxes and wanes for me as well. It's usually not an interest thing; life just seems to get in the way. Nice to see you get out and grab one though, and I'll echo that the clouds make this much more interesting.

How perfect. Total winner in the eclipse category, IMO. The clouds really add interest as they fill the frame.

Very nice image Gary and one of the better eclipse shots I've seen. The clouds add a lot of mood to this in a good way. Very nice.

In addition to the clouds the subtle warm and cool colors in the vicinity of the moon also add a lot.

Lovely work Gary. The clouds definitely make the scene. The mix of warm and cool clouds also adds to the scene.
