Rest Before the Chase

by Jerry Austin

This bull was taking a break from all the rutting activity along the Yellowstone River in the Hayden Valley. A few minutes after this image was captured, he was chasing the ladies again. I like the fact that there is good eye contact (not easy with bison) and the fact that the river is visible in the background.

Processed using Lightroom 5 and Photoshop CC 2014. Comments and critiques welcome.

Looks so peaceful and serene overlooking the kingdom Jerry. Calm before the storm. Classic pose. Nicely handled high contrast scene.

The exposure looks very good for the bison and the foreground grasses. I was confused by the background, not realizing it was the river, until I read your text. Solid capture.
