I got this one on the Twin Falls Circuit in the Gold Coast hinterland, Queensland. The color in the rocks really caught my eye

Real nice tropical scene and I really love the contrast of the orange and green tones. I might consider lightly cloning some texture into the pure white water (see top of the CANP regional forum for a how-to if you need it).

Thanks for your feedback Harley,I know what you mean about the white water but I wasn't sure what to do about it, I took your advise and changed it a bit, I'd be interested to know what you think

This type of scene is very foreign to me, Paul. I agree with Harley, that the blown out areas of the stream need some work. The repost is on the right track but, looks a bit too obvious to me. Perhaps a little more subtle approach would work better. I like the comp and color combos in the image.

Yes, a decent improvement! It can be difficult to hold the tones in the water highlight. Probably the most important thing for a non HDR image is to hold hi light detail in the original exposure, at least enough to bring it out of the raw. Several exposures will show how critical this is. Camera sensors keep getting better and highlight tone priority can help, sometimes.
Haven't been to the Gold Coast but been to Brisbane and Darwin as far as steamy places go.
Cheers. Tom

Very nice tropical creek, lovely! The washed out area is a distraction, but that issue is nicely fixed in the last re-post. That one looks really good!

It's a busy scene, but the provides some nice organization. The whites seem blown out. Some texture in the water and maybe burning down the bright rock on the left would be nice.

The repost looks much better Paul and a very nice comp as well. It seems a bit bright overall to me though. I wonder if you darkened the rocks and little side stream on the left it might balance things better. Very nice scene though.

The reds and greens match nicely Paul. Good job on the reposts.
