Oregon is Wet

I drove around the state with the intention of taking images of the well known waterfalls along the Columbia Gorge. But after taking numerous images of waterfalls and rivers I felt that this particular image caught the my sense of the western side of Oregon better than others.

Admittedly it's not much of a composition. I'm not even sure that there was much thought put into this image but it felt right at the time. Please let me know if you think this peculiar image has any merit in your eyes. And please be honest. (well, maybe not too honest)

Camera Model Canon EOS 6D
Lens EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM
Focal Length 60.0mm
Tv(Shutter Speed) 0.8
Av(Aperture Value) 13.0
ISO Speed 100
Tripod with remote cable release.

I love this Igor. You may not be sure of the composition but it looks well thought out to me. The lushness of the scene is very attractive and inviting. The large version feels like I could just crawl into it and be there. Fantastic. Honest enough?

Very lovely photo Igor, the different greens are a pleasure to look at. The composition looks fine to me, chaotic, without being too chaotic. It is after all a chaotic scene and your comp effectively shows that. Would love to take a walk in such a mossy forest!

I definitely like this. It has a kind of abstract look that works well for me, strongly graphical.

This is beautiful, Igor. I like how the main trunk and branches lead the eye around the image. Just the right amount of light and color saturation. This really is a scene I can relate to the forests of the PNW. Bravo...

beautiful lush greens are great. The larger limb in front with its lighter color gives a point of reference and the darker greens in the back support it well.

It takes some courage of decision to work with these images of boundless variation. It does hold together well. A question always arises as to what color doe we perceive in the rain forest. To my taste perhaps a bit toward blue or cyan, but then again it might actually be that way, out color appreciation and reality do not always coincide!

Thanks for sharing!

Good point Tom. I have looked at the images of NW rainforests here in the past and they are always much warmer. In fact I don't even have enough photoshop knowledge to transform mine to those colors. The exception were the old alaskan images that Vance would show. I always loved the cyan/green colors of his foliage.

Incidentally, I walk in a nearby redwood canyon in my area at least twice a week and the above image is much warmer than what I'm seeing there. We don't get that moss on our trees, a moss that actually a fair amount of yellow.

I have thoughts about this image but usually don't like to critique my own work so I'll just keep silent.

Hi Igor,

This image definitely works for me, and keeps me interested from a photographic point of view. This image oozes with green lushness, and has a nice life about it's essence. There is plenty of green variance to distinguish themselves from the other, and beautiful vision on this capture.

Beautifully seen and captured. The greens are a bit cool perhaps but the subtle light is perfect.
