Phoenix rising

One of the many photos I took that night while camping in the Norwegian mountains. I am used to see the aurora to the north where I live, but this was at the arctic circle, so the aurora was more or less everywhere! I was twisting my neck the whole time to make sure I wasn't missing anything, haha.

ISO 3200, f/3,5, 15 s, 14 mm.

C&C welcome, large version is included!

Roel

Roel, this is so cool. I don't think there is another natural phenomina that can match the Aurora. I hope I get to witness this someday. Beautiful work. :toast:

This is beautiful, Roel! Love the sweep of the aurora and how it looks like a bird taking off.

Quite nice, one almost needs a lawn chair to lay back and see such a scene. We had one last week like this, right overhead. You did a good job of catching the feel!

Cheers. Tom

Excellent use of the negative space for balance and anchoring the shot. Spectacular display. :toast:

Beautifully framed Aurora Roel. The thin line through the middle is great!

Really nice capture- I love the shape/comp here. It's like some kind of arctic phoenix or angel.

Way cool, Roel. I love the simplicity of nature's design in this. Have seen the aurora a couple of times in the Boundary Waters in N Minnesota - this is a real inspiration and good example.
