Newport Peninsula, Newport Beach, California March 1, 2015 on a rainy evening.

Nikon D800 Nikkor 24-120 24mm ISO100 .8 f/22 White Balance Auto RAW Processed in Lightroom, PhotoshopCC2014, NIK and TK

I purposely did not lighten the image because I found energy in the dark areas and did not want to brighten the sunset elements more than they are. I am curious about your opinion. I am a terrible editor of my own work.

Thank you for your thoughtful comments. I appreciate the opportunity to learn from you. :toast:

Just a little light on the barnacles on the legs of the pier would balance with the sunset in the distance, the way the light in the foreground water is doing. Perhaps a graduated filter or control point(NIK) on the left foreground. I like the dark pier and lights. and the water texture is fine . Maybe a little more structure in the dark clouds for contrast.. Overall exposure is fine. Nice photo. Great pier.

This conveys a fine "light at the end of a tunnel" mood, Patrick. You've held good detail in the shadows as well as in the color in the sky and their reflections. This works well for me as presented.
