Rocky Mountain Coyote Pair

While in the mountains of Colorado we spotted a coyote moving through the pines. As I got my camera out, 3 of the coyotes set up a howling and barking chorus which lasted several minutes. Shortly after they stopped, this pair walked out of the trees and posed for a moment allowing me to make this capture.
Thanks for looking and comments welcomed.

Well taken! Great detail in the coyotes and the setting shows them well. You could maybe crop just a bit tighter, but it looks fine as is also. Thanks for sharing.

Good one! I would have been tempted to bump the ISO up and go with a smaller aperture. I imagine though more depth would have been difficult to achieve. I like it a lot, but the soft framing gives this a kind of "storybook" feel.

What an awesome opportunity you had here. Can't complain about anything - beautiful setting, nice exposure and great look at all 4 eyes

Hi Richard,

I really like the "natural framing" here, and the eye contact is great. Mottled lighting like this is always a challenge to deal with, but you handled it very well. Personally I wouldn't want to see this cropped any tighter at all - as presented it shows the subjects very well and it also shows enough of the environment to add a real nice sense of place.

Very nicely done...a pleasure to view.

Cheers...

Brad

The side by side poses with differing facial expressions make this pretty darn special. I, too, think you faced challenging contrast in the setting...and did a fine job of making the capture. :toast:

They do look like they've stopped to pose, right down to the expression on their "faces". I love the dappled winter light.

I really like your comp on this one Richard. The winter setting, a pair of Coyotes in the Rockies....what's not to like? Congratulations on a fine image and the WP. :toast:

So glad you were at the right place at the right time. Like how the snow reflected light onto the wolves and opened up the detail in their fur throughout. Thanks for sharing.
