Spring Falls

Bassi Falls, my closest significant Sierra waterfall, last spring as trees were budding out. It's about a 90 foot cascade just a 15 minute walk from the trailhead. I liked the yellow frame around the water.

f/18, 1/15 sec, 116mm, ISO-200, tripod.

Perhaps a shorter exposure? Otherwise, nice.

Nice view of Bassi Falls Dave. You must have done some scrambling to get up on that side of the falls.

Nice Dave. I like the off center presentation, but also like a square crop with the falls centered. The SS works fine for me and the colors frame the falls perfectly.

A beautiful scene you have captured. You might consider a crop from the left to eliminate those trees.

This is nice, Dave. This comp works very well for me and I'm fine with the shutter speed for the water. I like the contrast of the yellow leaves against the gray rock. I could see darkening it just a bit but that is probably dependent on monitors. A very pretty scene!

yellow frame and cold tone rocks/water: good chromatic contrast and good effect.
Excellent also the sharpness.
All the best,

Well seen and framed, Dave. I could see a square crop working or simply cropping away the trees on the left. Those early spring greens are really nice.

Nice colors with the sun shining rigth on them, making them contrast really well with the darker background. Nice framing of the waterfall as well!

I saw this on my phone a few days ago, but am just now getting a chance to comment. I like the way that you have framed the falls here. The autumn leaves add so much to this image.

Dave: Marvelous scene and comp and the light ain't bad either. Not sure about the SS. Might like it even slower but this works. Nice work. >=))>

The rocks and shrubbery in the fg are too bright. Crop them out from the bottom and see how things improve.

I can see why you were attracted to this subject. The yellow leaves gracefully suspended over the blue granite is marvelous. The trees on the left add to the composition. The bright dry sappling dead center is a problem.

Can't wait for spring to come and the roads to open up there.
