One of the gazillion of tent photos that I have. Taken during a stormy snowshoe trip along the coast.... The beginning of the night was moonless, so I could take some moonless night photos including the Milky Way and a wee bit of aurora. A couple of hours later the moon rose, and I was out again in the middle of the night for several hours taking photos! This is what life is all about if you ask me!

If I remember correct, the bright star in the middle is Jupiter.

C&C welcome!

Roel

Your compositing here looks good, Roel. The scene feels real and the snowshoes and tent create a good sense of being there. It does look like there's some subtle haloing around the trees.

I too have a ton of tentscapes as you've noted, Roel. They're like portable pieces of sculpture that we get to set in beautiful places as accents. I usually get as much as not more reaction from people on them then I do on pure landscapes. That being said, I went winter snow camping exactly once. Usually the nights are just too long  I'd rather carry a gallon of water a mile or so into the desert!

The light here feels just right for a moonlit night image although I could see brightening the snow a tad with that much direct moonlight on it. I also like the snowshoes. I'd get rid of the white spot on the right edge in the trees but minor. The haloing Mark mentioned is more noticeable in the smaller version than the larger.

Wow!! This is an unbelievable light, I feel light being outside on a cold moonlit night - nicely done!

Thanks for the comments guys! I had not noticed the halo issue, so thanks for that, it is fixed now.

Dave: I agree, I have a photo of my camping spot of at least 95% of the places I have camped. It's the best way to capture another great night in the outdoors, and be able to "experience" the whole thing again afterwards when looking at the photo. Most people don't understand that obsession, so it's good to know there a few more individuals like that, haha!
