Barred Owl

Canon 1D-X, 300mm x 2.0TC, handheld
f5.6, 1/500, ISO5000

I found the bird on the grounds of CedarBrook Lodge, a very small island of vegetation in a sea of urban and suburban sprawl. I like the lazy, unexcited glimpse he took before going back to sleep.

The sticks and twigs are a bit distracting but that's the habitat. No large predator can sneak up on tho bird.

Cropped to vertical. Selective sharpening to the bird.

C & C, please. Thanks for looking.

Jim I know the eyes do lift Owl images but I do like to see them closed, agree about the twigs but hey! that's where it chose to sleep, well done getting this.

Other than Burrowing Owls, I don't think I have more than one image of an owl without twigs..it's where they are. I do wish for open eyes, but also like this facial reaction.

Hi Jim,

The owl looks very relaxed with those closed eyes. Owls and twigs go together :toast: ................................Jim

Very nice catch of a difficult subject. Tough sneaking into their bedroom during a nap. :toast:
