Wonderland!

Yeah it's been used before I know. But this is not a winter wonderland, but rather an autumn one. Sort of reminds me of a holiday candy shop with all the color everywhere. I think this is pretty busy, but works for me. I wonder what you think. Had to compress this a lot to get it posted so hope the detail and sharpening look okay.

From a mountainside that I love to shoot above Yosemite Valley.

Hi Chris,

This is a very busy image and you lost probably some detail in the compression. The color patches are fun to look at and the image has some nice abstract elements. The red, gold and green triangle shapes of the conifers are the main part of the composition. You might try to crop a little off the left because that center tree trunk seems to grab my eye the most......................Jim

A riot of color. Fall gives a last feast for the eyes before the grey, dull palette of winter. It is always fun to find the pinks and rose colors in combination with the usual yellows and reds. Kept coming back to this image and I guess I'm looking for a center of interest... a rock, river or a large tree.

Chris, yes this is a busy image, however, it's beautiful and I believe that it tells the story of early snow on fall colors very well. The reds in the foreground grab my attention and the tree trunks add a fine textural contrast as well as some good depth. My one thought on improving this is that at least a hint of a path through here would really invite the viewer to go exploring, but this looks very inviting as presented.

This is a nice little blast of early winter color. The comp is busy, but I think it holds up well. The reds look a little intense on my screen, but that is a personal preference.

BTW, no harm is saying my shadow image is not really your thing. It is good feedback (and not entirely unexpected, given the type of image) and honest comments are always appreciated.

A busy, but completely enjoyable view of the overlap of seasons. Some pictures were made to be a feast for the eyes, without a center of attention drawing the eyes like a magnet. I just enjoyed the look! :toast:

This has the feel of an impressionistic painting Chris. While a bit busy as others have mentioned, I like the mix of colors and touch of snow. There is also a sense of balance throughout the scene.

Love the mix of textures and colors. The snow helps simplify the chaos. I might only suggest brings down the overall exposure a little to create some deeper shadows for added depth.

Chris, What a wonderful mix of color and conditions you found here. As you mentioned it is a busy scene but it works very nice with the composition you came up with. I always love seeing a fresh snow while we still have the fall colors. That always seems kind of special for me. I bet this would look really good if we could see it a lot larger. Nice work!

Hi Chris,

This image is rocking good for me with the combination of beautiful fall colors, snow, and the vertical tree trunks scattered through the frame. This is the kind of image you have to see large and print out large to really appreciate properly. Chris you have such a beautiful vision when it comes to scenes like this, and just excellent work. :toast:

Good for my tastes these so rich and apparently confused composition.
The detail is good but probably could be better, while I find the colours masterfully managed: clear white, clear but noy flat isolated leaves colours.
All the best,
