Last Light

I'd never been to this spot near Moab, so when I was passing through on the way to visit family this past weekend I tried to catch sunset here. The 4x4 trail getting to this point was slow going, and I was a little late finding a preferred view. About 20 minutes after sunset the light from the opposite view was blowing up. No good comp in that direction but I tried to capture the beautiful glow on these fins. C&C always appreciated. :wavey:

Great comp of a fantastic location that you have rendered very realistically, Jared. The red light draws me into the intricate FG for a long exploration while the distant mountains serve as a contrasting backdrop. I might try a bit more contrast on the foreground elements but just fine as presented.
Kudos :toast:

Pretty sweet, Jared. Love the light on the fins and snow capped peaks (La Salles?). The warm/cool thing works very well. I also like that it is a different comp for the Moab area. Nice work as usual. :wavey:

fins? fins? ah - maybe a bunch of people from finland sitting in the after glow of a sun that has set. rather unearthly feel to it ...! that's a good thing - I think - and a curious interplay between the Fins and the mountains in the BG.

Nice light, and nicely features some very interesting formations. This definitely needs to be viewed large too.

I like the compressed view of the longer lens and the contrast in colors. I'd be tempted to try and bring up the levels of the fins a little to accentuate the brighter glow of the sandstone. Obviously if you go too far it would ruin the dusky mood. Might be worth trying. Sounds like a very cool drive!

This is definitely an inspiring location. This is nicely composed - I like the contrast between the fins and the snow-capped peaks. I like the subtle lighting and your processing looks nice.

Beautiful shot Jarred, I think many people won't have any idea what the foreground landscape is. I did a long cross country hike through the fins once and found it difficult to photograph them to my satisfaction. I think you did a great job.

Very interesting interplay between the 'fins' and the mountains. The light is gorgeous, and I like the composition.

This landscape basically speaks for itself. This scene is incredible, but brought to anew level with this light you have captured!
