High Key Eagle - Snow

I was out yesterday with snow falling to get a couple of Eagle images.

I went for a high key look since the sky was completely overcast anyway.

Waited this eagle out until he decided to fly. Happy with the wing position and the amount of detail I was able to get in the eagle with snowflakes showing against his feathers.

Interested in your thoughts.

The larger version shows a LOT more detail in the eagle.

Canon 7D Mark II

ISO 1250

About 80% of full frame

I like the a lot Keith. Very different feel to it. The wing position is forfeit. Well done.

Interesting shot Keith and nice detail in the LP. I'm not really certain I like the high key though. I think the overall feel of it, at least to me, is that the image is somewhat harsh on my eye.

I'm sort of with Charlie, but I look for the story here as well. The photo is harsh because the conditions are harsh, and the incredible survivability of the eagle in those conditions strikes a chord for me. :toast:

I really like your comp and the falling snow, Keith. Nice wing position on the bird. I wish the eye stood out just a little better.

A very good adjustment to conditions in the field. Interesting that the bird's head is so dirty when there is snow.

Love the composition and the nice bend of the perch. The snow really adds to the mood.

Awesome how the snow matches the white splotches on the eagle. This should be printed big and hung

I really like the composition. I think because the eagle's head is dirty it helps it stand out more against the white sky

Wow! I would love to get a picture of an eagle like this one! I like the eagle's pose and all of the snow is really cool. I also like that you caught him as he took off with his wings up.

Late post as I seldom check the galleries. I really like the image. The dark head of a young eagle seems to make the eye hard to catch well and added to the overcast light I think you did well. Like the balance of the bird and the limb.

Unique image Keith, the driven snow makes it great.
High degree of difficulty, excellent results :toast:
