Another visitor from my wait for the Rough-legged Hawk at Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge. Seemed odd to see Red-winged Blackbirds displaying and singing in mid-January.

I appreciate your critiques and comments.

Cropped to 68% of original (13.7 or 20MP)

f/7.1, 1/1250, ISO 400

7D2, 500mm, 1.4x TC, noodle resting on car window

Brian, I like this a lot. The details in bird and the calling pose are great. The background is perfect and I like that you decided to leave the reed on the right even though it would have been an easy clone. Well done! :toast:

The pose and expression make the shot here. Always find it hard to frame these birds when in Bear River (which is once a year in August) .. :toast: , Hans

Nice pose. Good detail in the blacks and an interesting perch. The background really serves to compliment the bird. Not sure if the twig on the right adds to the image?

Very beautiful bird, nice perch, great background.
If this were mine, I would probably clone out the twig on the right. But that's a personal preference.
Great image as is.
