Winter Fairytale

While scouting the area after the heavy snowfall just after christmas last year I found this group of trees and I thought that I would like to come back the next day when it starts snowing again to shoot these trees isolated with a foggy background

Real nice winter scene, Bill. I like the background whiteout and the way it isolates the tree. I might be inclined to crop 1/3 to 1/2 of the foreground snow.

Simple, but very effective. The minimalist presentation works for me in the composition. The white-out conditions and the apparent emptiness of the landscape conveys a sense of solitude.

Good whiteout. I agree with Harley on the crop from the bottom.

Great winter scene. I prefer the crop as is, for me it gives the scene more a feeling of starkness. I might clone out the branches on the ground by the third tree from the right.

Thanks for your feedbacks and suggestions.
@Harley and Phil: I was also thinking about cropping a bit from the bottom....but then I leave it to give the scene a stronger sense of solitude. But I also have cropped version, so thanks a lot for your input.

Allen Brooks: I wasn't sure about the branches here but I thought I want to keep them in the image

Another beautiful photograph, Bill. I love the look and wonderful mood this has. Excellent processing and I like the composition fine as it is. I'm sure it would look good with the bottom crop too but I like the space there myself. :toast:

You captured a really wonderful mood with the graphic simplicity here, Bill. I love these kinds of images; reminds me of a pencil drawing. My only suggestion would be to clone out those branches on the ground. Just a personal choice.

Would make a wonderful Holiday card. Show cases the crisp winter. The open spaces above and below the trees adds to the calmness and balance of the image. Nice work!

Beautiful work, Bill. Love the isolated winter trees. I like the foreground crop idea, but you've got a super image either way.

I like this one. It's good you got that touch of color in the trees because it adds to the mood. I agree with Harley about the crop he suggested.

excellent! This works very well for me. Did you have to go high key, or is this as it looked when you shot it?

Chris, it was a snowy afternoon and the light was kind of blueish......it was bright but not that bright....I wanteted a positive image and not dull colors so I decided to go more high key.
