Late Autumn Tapestry

I have been looking for a hillside like this or similar for a long time. Found it the weekend after Thanksgiving. Just happened to go around the west side of Lake Tahoe as far as Emerald Bay. Took it in the fading light in a heavy wind. So there are a few small areas with motion blur.

The motion blur caused by the slow shutter speed along with the beautiful warm colors gives this a very nice painterly look.

Very beautiful image ! The range of tones and textures, amplified by the slight degree of blur, give a sense of a wind-blown landscape, while the large rocks peeping out from the dense foliage anchor the composition perfectly.

Love the arrangement of elements here, Chris. I might look at increasing the contrast in the brights to gain more definition in the branches without sacrificing too much of soft light look to this

The motion blur doesn't bother me at all, I actually think it adds something to this particular scene. The combination of colors and structures is fantastic, such a relaxing picture!

So very delicate, Chris, and a nice balanced composition with lots to appreciate. I think that you could even push the sharpness a bit more without getting too crunchy.
Sure could use a bunch of snow up there!

Lovely tapestry, indeed! I can see deer, bear and foxes coming out, when evening falls.

The textures and subtle colors are lovely, Chris. Your comp. works is great (and I know how hard finding a pleasing comp. in a quasi-abstract like this is).

Beautiful shot - the subdued mix of colors and all of the nice detail is perfect to me. The different types of trees and the way they are placed within the frame makes for a nice comp. Like it a lot as is.

Chris,

I love this kind of image, and you have seen and captured this one so well. The trees are placed beautifully in the frame, and the textures are just divine. This image has a beautiful painter like quality to it that is quite charming.

Wonderful work :toast:

Nicely done. I like that you made good use of the wind to give this a paiterly look. Beautiful Autumn-into-Winter landscape. Congrats on the Pick!

Lovely composition and colors.  Wonder what it would look like with the bottom fifth cropped so the eye might revel even more without those slightly distracting brown areas.
