Snow falling lightly over the Male Elk as he was Stepping Out .

Taken mid day @1pm, Overcast but light clouds at times to allow a gentle shadow.

Temperatures around -23 degrees as I was lying in the Snow , prepared for this opportunity!

Slight leveling crop, taken @ 116mm F5.6, 1/500, ISO 160, +1.0 Meter Compensation,

Comments and Critique appreciated!
Larger version shows excellent detail

PS... My first posting with my new D610.

Love how it is strutting in this image. Exposure on the snow is top notch, tons of sharp detail as well. Camera worked well for you.

Is that -23 Fahrenheit or Celsius?? (as if it matters!)

Nice prancing Elk. I like the movement much more than a static figure. :toast:

Good detail throughout!! Great stopping of the action. This guy was certainly stepping out! Thanks for sharing.

Love the posture...and the exposure is quite good! In a perfect world, maybe, you wouldn't have the rows of vertical trees behind him, but the antlers show off pretty well and detail is excellent.

Bill - I'm not sure I could lie in the snow when it's -23. Sure was absolutely worth it! This has fantastic light and the moment you've captured is a wonderful pose. He looks so proud! :toast:
