I thought this was an unusual pose that shows off this guy's plump body. I also like the head down reflection. and the creamy water.

Processed using Lightroom 5 and Photoshop CC 2014. Comments and critiques welcome.

Good grief, Jerry! That one had better have stayed hidden around Christmas...someone might have been tempted to use him as a substitute for the traditional turkey! Great tones here and detail in the plumage. It appears as though a flash was used but I didn't see it listed in your specs...was that just some killer early/late light?

John,

No flash. Just some sweet late afternoon light.

Yes, very nice light. Interesting pose. Pretty good detail. Nice coloration in the water.

How do you like the 7D Mark II? Particularly how is it doing at ISOs over 400? I've been pretty disappointed in the 7D's ability to handle noise.

Allen,

The 7D Mark II has much better high ISO performance than the 7D. I try not to shoot over ISO 1600, occasionally going to ISO 3200. In this range, the Mark II handles the noise very well. I have been very pleased with its high IS performance as well as all other aspects. Great camera.

A funny shot - I love his tummy skimming the water and the expression on contentment on his face! You caught it all very well, and got both the bird and his reflection in a pleasant composition.

Great job handling the two shades of black without blow the whites -- like the background colors

That is a big Coot Jerry. Nice pose and the water looks very pleasing. Exposure in the blacks looks good. :toast:
