Alvord Camp

From a huge backlog of images that I am currently processing taken during a month-long trip back in September through six western states. I've got to learn to push that little button much less frequently!

I highly recommend southeastern Oregon for a great range of photo ops: the Alvord desert, Steens mountain and the Malheur wildlife refuge. Just a couple of hours from Winnemucca  but be sure to gas up in Fields, OR on the way up. I'll be posting more stuff as I get to it.

Canon T1i, f/18, 1/60 sec, 42mm, ISO-200, handheld.

Here's a color version. Any preference?

Dave, I think that B&W works much better for this one, somehow the perspective pulls me in more strongly than in the color version. Did you shoot this one from the top of a truck? Nice job

And I'll be looking forward to your photos from that area, especially Steens Mtn - an area that I absolutely love, but all my photos are from my Kodachrome days.....

Dave, I like the b&w version best here as well. The color is nice but the b&w just works for me. Looks like a pretty cool place to camp.

I would go for the BW but maybe open up those blocked shadows just a bit. You've arranged the framing well for such a complicated scene.

I personally prefer the color version, Dave, because I think the tent stands out more, but I might reduce the yellows. They seem strong, but this may be just seeing this next to the B&W version. I am looking forward to seeing your images from this trip, including from this area . Never been there myself.
