With the crowds lining up to shoot sunrise at Death Valley's Zabriskie Point, one lone photographer went the extra mile looking for a different viewpoint.

He or she is the smart one, getting away from the hordes. Nice clouds and color.

The very small figure gives a true sense of scale, without being intrusive. I like it.

Very nice, as is, but I would also like to see a view with the hiker more prominent (closer) in a comp.

If it were mine I would probably clone out the other photographer
The sky, clouds, light and comp are too good to have that little distraction!

Kind of like a "Where's Waldo" exercise. It took me awhile to find him (her). Epic view you captured here.

Basil, I like this scene very much and I quite enjoy what the lone photographer adds to this. You caught some very nice light and the colors are really beautiful. Can't come up with anything I would want to change here for improvement. Of course you can always clone the tiny photographer if you want one like that as well. Good work on this.

Thanks for commenting, everybody.
As for cloning out the photographer - I don't think that's necessary. I also have frames taken a few minutes before, with better light, and without photographer. For me, the human figure, even though small, is an essential part of the message of this image here. There is a different image without the photographer, but that one tells a different story, I'd say.

Sweet light and the colors and clouds add a lot of interest to the image. I also like the comp. For me the other photographer can either be taken out or left. The person is so small it does not really effect the image either way.

That's pretty cool Basil. It took me a while to find the photographer. The photographer is the story and no matter how minor in the shot, it is still a very important element in the image ............................Jim
