Other Fireside

Since I got a unanimous vote for a higher perspective on the previous version of this scene I thought I'd post another shot I took at the same time from a slightly different location where the fireweed wasn't so tall. The good news is it has the perspective that everybody wanted but the bad news was that there was no yarrow in that area so the scene has a little less variety.

Sony DSC-r1, ISO-160, f16.0, 1/200, handheld over my head.

This is much better, Gary. Besides the upper vantage point this is also a simpler, better composition.

I like this Gary. Strong composition and rich complementary colors. No suggestions.

I like the high perspective and the colors are just right - neither dull nor overly saturated - beautiful work!

Gary, This is another very nice view of this beautiful place. I have gone back and forth between the two images and have decided I like the first one best. It just seems to have a nicer feel for me for some reason. Both are very nice!

I like both, but I do agree with Nick that the first image has a nicer feel. In this one, the brush on the little island is somewhat distracting. However, I do like the color, and the exposure and light are very nice.

The composition is really solid in this image, the image has a beautiful balance, and the technical aspects are right on the money. It is a very nice view of the area, and I really can't make up my mind between the two images because I like them both.

Beautiful stuff

I like this version, Gary. But I can see why you chose the other shot to present first. This perspective brings into view all the debris in the river which is a little distracting. So I'm voting for the first version.

While this is also beautifully done I think I prefer your prior post, Gary. I like the flora variety and your lower POV does a better job of hiding the clutter in the river. Of course I was one of those wondering about a higher POV.

This view works very well for me, Gary. It keeps the focus on the fireweed while showing the environment (which is also lovely) well.
