A tail to be told

This image certainly won't float everyone's boat.
I do like to use any opportunity to experiment with showing something other than the "classic facial portrait" we all strive for so often. Of course it's easier to stick to that resolve if the male leopard you are photographing refuses to turn around or look your way!

From the archives - Sabi Sands circa 2010.

I am off to the Kalahari again this coming weekend - can't wait to explore the red dunes again!

Techs:
Nikon D300s
Nikkor 200-400mm f4 VR @ 380mm
f4.0 | 1/5000 SS | ISO-400

I think it is an interesting composition that not everyone would go for . . . Nicely seen

Morkel ...this is a classic situation when the cat is alert and is interested in something, and usually would take off towards the prey. You have captured the behavior ..which every one misses out ..including its prey...
Did you attempt a bw on this ..

Hello Morkel

Reminds me of the saying.... "You can never get too much Tail"

Morkel: we too often miss the opportunity to shoot the details (no pun intended). Your photo says just as much about the animal as one shot of the entire body. Great. Richard

Hey Morkel,

Fun and totally effective! Even one who doesn't know the behaviour patterns of leopards would instantly think that the cat who owns this tail is real curious about something. Well done!

Cheers...
