Subtle...almost didnt click on it...but the tonal range and separation is pretty amazing. Very cool.

David: Aptly titled and superbly captured and presented. The larger version is spectacular. >=))>

My oh my! A hard image to capture and get right, but I think you nailed it. Been in places like these old cypress and tupelo sloughs. :toast:

David,

I love your images of the cypress trees, and you really know these trees personally. You seem to have a wonderful vision in how to present the essence of these beautiful trees. I can feel the wisdom of them in your images, and this is such a treat to view large.

Awesome work :toast:

The soft light really lets the details sing here, David. The trees feel like dancers with the touches of color. The gap adds a fine sense of depth.

I've admired your cypress images from afar for quite some time now. Nobody does it better. This one has a pleasant surprise with that lime green plant that's the center of attention. Your compositions are usually cooler with with a warm object but this time you've reversed that color scheme. It's perfectly composed. I can't come up with a crop that would improve it.

Superb....
I like the vertical perspective a lot, the subtle colors are very nice.
The bottom gives the impression that it needs rotation, but the trees are straight....
My only minor nitpick.....

The more I look at the large photo, the more it draws me into it. Just love the combination of color tones. My eyes keep wandering to the amazing bottom trunk shapes and reflection in the water. Well done!

Wow, the power of 36 MP in the hands of someone who has the talent to use it and a gorgeous subject to capture. I was pretty much awestruck when I first viewed this. I like the vertical format so much. The first word I thought of was "Majestic". This is one of those shots that I just can't stop coming back to and admiring. I hate to add a nit to all my gushing, but it appears to have an ever so slight CCW tilt, but I may be wrong. Great capture David!

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. One sure way to check image alignment is to measure a point in the image with it's reflection. This one only had a few points of reference but sure enough, this was a bit off CCW. Relying on in the field level measurement tools did not get it done. Thanks for pointing this out and it is now fixed on the master file.

An excellent scene and you framed it very nicely, David. I love those trees! The only suggestion I would make would be to bump the contrast just a bit to define the trees a little better and make the whole scene a little more 3D. It's strictly a personal bias based on noticing that today's cameras do a great job with dynamic range but consequently tend to produce somewhat flat images, especially when shooting landscapes.
