Hiked up to Dream Lake in RMNP this past Sunday with Morris McClung. We got there just as the sun hit the top of the peaks. Morris got set up quicker than this sea level flatlander so I suspect he caught the better light but I still liked this later scene. It was close to -15° and the wind was blowing more than 25 mph. BRRRRrrrrr! Of course we had the place to ourselves for most of the time we were there. It was fun to just watch the sun work its way down the mountains and the snow blowing off the top of the peaks. All comments welcome. >=))>

Wow, I had almost forgotten the power of the high altitude light in Colorado. That's an amazing view. Powerful composition. Looking up at the peaks at this angle makes it even more impressive. The blowing snow gives a hint at the wind chill, too. My wind chill chart says it was -44 degrees F. I hope you made it back with no frostbite!

This is a neat view, Bill, with the blowing snow and the early morning light. I'm having mixed feelings...partly wishing for just a bit more space up top, but also liking how full the frame is with the mountains and that fine swoop of ridge in the foreground. I suspect that this is one of those images that needs viewing time to grow. Sounds like a very chilly hike, rewarded with some fine light.

Great shot, Bill! I like the scale here as it gives the peaks the looming quality this view has. I really like your comp as it has a dynamic quality with the diagonals, too. This really translates well the sense of being there. Beautiful.

It was brutally cold, and of course made worse by my carelessness of stepping through the ice at the creek. But, it is so worth the effort to get there. Thank you for inviting me along on your hike!

Not only is Bill a fine photographer, he is a genuinely fine man as well. What a pleasure to get to know you. I enjoyed our time together immensely. And, I hope to do it again soon.

Very nice. The atmospheric effects and the well-controlled lighting really make the shot for me.

Real nice feel of the cold and conditions, with the blowing clouds and snow. For my tastes, I would really pull down the blue/cyan in the trees and lower mountains, but that is very much a personal preference.

This even looks cold! I sure do like the light on the crags and the spindrift flying around.

Nicely done, Bill.

Beautiful warm light on the peaks and a definite chill in the valley. Wonderful contrasts.

I love the atmosphere in this image Bill!!!

I can feel the cold, but the beautiful warm light breathes warmth to this image, and adds so much to the spirit of this one.

Great capture Bill!!!
