Ready to be Seen

I've spent countless hours over the years in this general location near the Court of the Patriarchs in Zion Canyon, and I've made many nice compositions here. In fact, the large cottonwood in the upper left corner is the same one as in this composition which I posted three years ago (almost to the day). I don't know how many times that I've walked by this fallen cottonwood and never saw anything interesting. But on this occasion, it stopped me in my tracks. Sometimes you don't see something until it's ready to be seen and until you are ready to see it in a certain way.

very effective use of foreground element to draw you into a beautiful scene. Very nice. :toast:

This turned out very nice. Jumbled yet coherent.

Real nice, Jim. Your comp works quite well, giving a sense of place and leading me through the image. Great color, too.

I really like the low perspective you have given us in this view Jim. The lrhc is beautiful with the mixture of leaves and bark, and the fallen tree leads one into the rest of the image with the beautiful autumn colors.

Love the composition, Jim, how the eye moves along the old fallen tree, exploring the scattered fallen leaves on the right and the beautiful autumn color in the background. Comes across as a tribute to this ancient tree.

I think this scene works well, Jim. The fall color is obviously beautiful, and the log provides a nice diagonal line and provides foreground interest.

You did a remarkable job creating a cohesive composition of a somewhat chaotic scene. Beautiful image, Jim.

I typically would think that something so large and dominating in the frame wouldn't work. But this is excellent, and a beautiful scene.

Wonderful composition and color Jim. On my work monitor it appears slightly oversharpened.
