The Shack
by Thomas Haney
My wife and I spent three nights out at this shack to celebrate our first wedding anniversary a few weeks ago. It's seven miles off the coast of the Eastern Shore of Virginia, in a maze of marshes and barrier islands that are wonderfully remote and minimally visited. To take this sunrise image, I was knee deep in soft mud, with my camera just an inch or so off the water surface, trying hard not to move and disturb the reflection.
