The Monarch fall migration made itself apparent in Central Texas around the end of October.
One sunny day I witnessed at least a half a dozen or more feeding in our garden.
F/16, 1/800th, ISO 640, 1D M3. 300mm f/2.8 + 1.4x & natural light @ 11:48am.
Here's a link with detailed info/maps if your interested.

The monarch is nice and sharp and the composition is good. The flowers add a nice triangular dimension to the composition. I wonder if you can pull any more detail in the blacks on the thorax and head of the monarch....................Jim

Perfect focus keeping the Monarch sharp. The bg color is complimentary to both bf and flower. Thanks for the extra information.

Your flower garden has let you make some terrific butterfly shots this year, Howard, and this fits right in. I like the nice diagonal comp and that anchoring but nicely soft flower llc.
