Abandoned

Recent windy weather here knocked the bottom off one of our bird houses. It revealed an abandoned wren nest with two small 1/2” eggs (measured them).
I made the mistake of placing the nest box in the pecan tree that sits at the center of our garden. I believe between the watering & our regular presence, we drove the birds off..

Hey Howard,

I like the texture of the egg shells. The comp is good and hopefully when the birds return, they will be successful.......................Jim

Impressive magnification of these tiny wren eggs, Howard. Flawless detail. Too bad about the circumstances.

Nice detail and textures. In particular, I like the way the small feather softens the hard, smooth eggs. Too bad they never hatched

Great look at these two eggs, Howard. The colors sure give this a warm feeling in spite of the eggs being abandoned. We had bluebirds in our nest box for the second year in a row but the male disappeared early in the nesting season and the female abandoned three eggs...so I wouldn't be so quick to blame yourself. Our house wrens are very tolerant of human intrusions, our Carolina Wrens noticeable less so.
