Buck With The 7D Mark II

I just received my Canon 7D Mark II and decided to try it out at a very high ISO. I shot this at ISO 3200. Even with this high ISO, the shutter speed was only 1/80s. This is a JPEG right out of the camera. Other than a slight crop, I did nothing to it. No noise reduction. Pretty impressive. I did not go above ISO 640 with my old Canon 7D. It was just too noisy.

Well, I guess you know that you've got a FG that's way too busy. Hope you like your new camera. That the one I have my eye on. Nice review on DP Review of it. And of course you've got that nice glass to go with it. Hope to seen some more from this pairing.

Hey Jerry,

I looked closely at the specs on that camera when it was first announced and, at least on paper, it looks like a pretty sweet machine. Pretty hard to get a feel for noise in an image reduced down to 1200 pixels (especially when it was nearly full frame) as the downsizing hides so much of the noise. Looking forward to seeing how this one works out as you put it to the test.

Cheers...

Brad

Thanks for the comments. This image was posted to try to show the performance of the new 7D Mark II, not for the artistic merits of the image. I will be posting additional images that hopefully give an idea of this new camera's performance. Still learning all the nuances of this camera, but so far I am impressed.
