Ian, I can't say I'd recognize the type of leaves here, but the state of decay of each one sure places a nice variety in the scene overall. I really like how you've filled the frame entirely and the resulting aspect ratio to the image. Excellent work.....

This is a fine collection of leaves with a nice focus on the ones that are new and rightside up. Excellent seeing, Ian.

There is a lot of character in the textures and colors of those fallen leaves. The light and the substrate of other leaves adds depth to this image, too.
I don't know which dogwood species this is, but there are lots of them. I was surprised at the mention of "nyssa." We have several species of Nyssa (tupelo) trees in North America, but I did not know they grew in the UK. Do you know which species it is?

Wayne : thanks for the comment. We have here an old vicarage garden planted with exotic species - it's a Chinese dogwood, not a native European one, and the nyssa ( don't know the species but I can find out ) is indeed not native either.

Thanks Ian. Wonderful to have an exotic tree collection at your disposal. Reminds me of the cemetery adjoining the forestry college I attended, planted with trees of the world. Amazing how so many of them thrive outside their native range. If your Nyssa is N. sylvatica , they have spectacular crimson leaves that I always miss shooting because they change color before any of the other trees here.

Very evocative image, Ian. I always like when there are water droplets in compositions such as this to provide more context as to the environment.

Very natural setting with some nice shades of yellow and brown. I also like the elongated crop. Your composition has a good selection of leaves. Well done!
