I was surprised to stumble upon this slot canyon near Moab, as I thought I'd have to go to Zion to find a scene like this.

Gorgeous light, strong comp and I like the water treatment very much. Nothing I'd change here. Beautiful scene and image.

This does have a narrows feel to it. I bet you didn't have to work around other photographers for this Nice soft lighting in the canyon, might consider toning down the brightest parts high in the frame. Any chance you have an image using the green moss in the FG? Would love to see it if you have one.

Nice find Grant. good ss for the water and only nit is center top is too bright and draws eye from subject. burn in a little, reduce highlight a bit or crop down about 1" .

This is beautiful, Grant. The water does a fine job of leading me in and the warmth in the distance has me wanting to continue exploring.

I like the comp and processing. I might reduce the luminance of that water in the middle.

What a great find! And you captured it very nicely with this composition. I agree with Mark (Zelinka) concerning the color cast of the water in the foreground. It looks a little purple to my eye.

The water looks just fine to me Grant. I agree though with dealing with the bright whites at the top of the image. I could see a combo of a small crop and a bit of judicious cloning to eliminate them.
Beautiful nonetheless.

Thanks for the feedback. Harry, here's a version with the green moss closer to the foreground. And, no, I didn't have to jostle with other photographers In fact, I haven't seen another photographer while out shooting in my last 5 trips to Moab. I've been looking for lesser-known spots.
I'd already toned down the bright spots at the top a fair amount, but may do a little more, as I've done with a quick edit on the new image.

This is really cool! This was a single exposure?

Super find, Grant. I really like the repost with the highlights toned down.

Hi John, Yes, these were single exposures. The light on the distant walls is bounce light, not direct light, so the dynamic range wasn't too extreme. It doesn't hurt that the D800e captures such a wide dynamic range. I did combine multiple exposures on a shot up around the corner, where the canyon ends. But I didn't like that shot as much anyway.

It certainly reminds me of what I call the Upper Subway. I like it. It would be awesome if there was some more mosses to the right rather than just that small amount but hey you can't have everything. I might have tried physically removing the smaller log.

I am curious what camera you had prior to getting the D800?
I really enjoy this capture, and the first composition is my pick. The light in this canyon looks awesome, and very nice work with this capture.
