Pre-Dawn Beauty

I've been on the road for the last 5 days or so and when I arrived home last night and pulled up NPN I was pleasantly astounded by the beauty and quality of the images that have been posted lately. Great job Ladies & Gentlemen!

There's always something special about watching Wacissa River awaken. It's so quiet at first and then birds start singing, the mullet start jumping and splashing and, on this morning, there was a Bald Eagle that kept flying up and down the river. What a joyous way to greet the day!!

Please view LARGE version for better detail.

Critiques and comments welcome. I hope you enjoy, and thanks for looking.

Great work Bill. Love the dripping moss and the mist on the water, as well as the decision to render the background a bit out of focus.

Beautiful image Bill, for the same reasons that have already been stated. I wonder how it would look with the main tree group a little less centered.

I like the softness in color and detail that the fog/mist provides.

Cool and eerie. I am waiting for the monster to jump out of the foggy water. Real sweet image.

The moss looks like icicles make of feathers. (Strange description, I'm sure, but it comes from somebody who can drive to Canada for dinner. I wonder if you would say our frozen waterfalls look like moss made of ice. :D ) Anyway, the light you found makes that feathery stuff look wonderful, and the mist on the water enhances the mood perfectly. Super composition and processing, too, Bill.

Predawn beauty indeed, Bill. This is just stunning. The atmosphere with the mist is lovely and the overcast lighting is perfect for showcasing all the wonderful details in this scene. Great work.

SWEET! At first glance I thought for sure this was from Caddo Lake. I love how these trees nurture their own little gardens in the crevices of their trunks. Beautifully composed and processed.
