Dardagna falls

Hi all,
this was taken in September along Dardagna torrent, in Appennini near Bologna (Italy).
A classic shot, trying to give deepness through composition.
I like wide angle lenses but for me 17mm are quite difficult to manage.
The lens was half a meter from the first leaves in the fg.
I stood on my knees on the rocks for almost an hour trying different shots to make all work. (Than I called an helicopter to take me to the car ;) )

Thank you for looking.

Eos 5D MkII, 17mm, f/18, 0.8 sec, ISO 100, tripod and cable release.

I think this worked very well, with a good shutter speed for the water and nicely-saturated colors. Is this then one exposure or a blend of several? Was f/18 sufficient to get it all in focus in one?

Dear Ronald,
thank you for your comment.
This is a single exposure.
The waterfall was not so far from the leaves and f18 allowed me to get all in focus BUT the lens used is a 17-40mm zoom canon:
at f18 the sharpness of the lens is not so good so I had to improve it (especially in the bg) in post-production. :)

I like this, Riccardo, with the strong foreground that still serves as a lead into the very appealing falls. The ss works well on this as well. Nice work Chet

Super solid comp and nice spot. Too bad flowers werent blooming. Only nit is I want to see a tiny pan to the left as there's a bit too much dead space top right corner. Well seen and good job on the heli ;)

This worked out very well, Riccardo. The wide view creates an interesting feeling of peeking over the plants to see the falls.

Very nice image Riccardo with very nice fore ground colors and details. The exposure for the falls looks great also. A very nicely put together scene. Well done.

Solid composition and nice details. I do see a slight magenta cast, but it's not a deal breaker. You did a nice job on this, Ricardo.

Riccardo, You did a really nice job with this! The overall scene looks great and I like the details of the foreground very much. You also did a nice job with the focus point for me. Nice sharp foreground with just a bit of soft background works very nicely here. Cool shot!

I love your use of diagonals here both with the FG plant and the falls, Riccardo. This has a wonderful atmosphere to it. Beautifully done.

Thank you all
Dear Aaron: I agreee with your suggestion and I thank you for that  . The problem for me was not to include in the image some branches and leaves of a tree that was on the left, just outside the border. It seemed to me that they would have somehow "wasted" the composition. :wavey:

Beautiful work Riccardo. I like the falls as a bg for this beautiful plant and the dark stones. Well conceived and presented. No suggestions.

All your hard work really paid off, Ricardo. This composition so tight and well-balanced, it's apparent that a lot of thought went into it. Exposure and shutter speed could not be better. Well done!

I love how you have incorporated three very distinct elements into the composition and they are working together so well.
