This is an alternate version of my prior post. Ordinarily I wouldn't obstruct the view, but I really wanted to include the autumn foliage in the scene. After getting this image I tried to cross to the other side to put the fall color behind the falls but was stymied by the slippery conditions and decided it was not worth the risk as I was by myself.

As always thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment or suggestion.

I like the foreground partially obscuring the falls. Usually I see intervening foliage as a nuisance, but here you've embraced it, and it worked out well. Needed that f/18, but 1.3 sec is a little long for my taste in moving water. Usually. Looks good here.

Very nice idea to ovelap leaves and waterfall.
Very good flow effect, detail and color rendition.
I would suggest to leave some more space around the waterfall on the left and on the lower border.
Anyway I like it.
Well done!

Sometimes conditions force us into trying something new, and it works. The colorful veil of leaves does make it seasonal and adds to the impact of the image. The falls are well captured. I like it. Chet

I like how the trees frame the falls Ed and the exposure for the falls adds a nice soft back round. I like it with a touch off the top also. It pulls my eyes more to the falls. But excellent as is.

I like this view a lot, Ed. It gives me the feeling of walking through the forest, catching glimpses and details in the cascades. The light is very nice and the color looks great to me.

Great shot,Ed! I'm enjoying this view very much. I like the feel as if I just came up on this while walking through the woods. The other comments seem to express that too, so I think you did an excellent job capturing a wonderful look here. Works nice for me as is but I do like a little crop of the top even better. Wonderful light and the colors are like I'm there! :toast:

The color really helps the foreground/background layering work so well. Nicely done.

Striking composition Ed and I love the leaves in the fg. Nothing I'd change here. I find it very appealing as posted. Wonderful mood to it as well.

Agree with the crop off the top but otherwise the image works great for putting me in the scene. It would be fun to try the same shot with a shallower depth of field so that the cascade was an OOF background and the foliage was the primary subject.

Thought u said there was no water flow? I've been to Mohawk when ther was only about two trickles flowing. Anyway, fine shot. I was thinking about how to verbalize my thoughts and I think Preston and Nick are spot on. It feels like you came upon this scene in the woods and placed the tripod down and took the shot. That's a copmliment, not a criticism, cause it's hard to caqpture that "essence". Well done. :toast: :toast:

Thanks for your thoughts everyone. Here is a repost with a little more space on the left side and bottom as per Riccardo's suggestion and a little crop from the top as Bill, Nick, D.A., and Mike suggested.

Nicely composed Ed, I like the veil of leaves in front of the falls, really helps to put me there.

Ed: I like the elements in this scene very much. This is a great fall image with excellent lighting. I particularly like your framing of the waterfall and the foreground leaves. The recomp looks much more balanced. :toast:
