American Avocet

I found this avocet involved in a dedicated preening session early one morning last spring at Malheur NWR in Oregon.

Canon MkIV; 600mm; 1/1600; f9; ISO 800; manual settings using spot meter; nearly full frame

I very much appreciate all your comments and suggestions. Thanks for looking!

Lovely symmetry in this reflection shot and pleasing color on the Avocet. The reflection band whites are on the verge of hot in the middle. Unavoidable probably, unless you bring the whites down as a group.

Wow, Ken. Just an excellent photograph, with the great reflection. I noted the reflection lines, as well, but not a big deal. :wavey:

Wonderful image, Ken. The colors and reflected lines of the ripples on the avocet are captivating. I also enjoy seeing the symmetrical vegetation on the top and bottom. Surprised to see the avocets are still in their breeding plumage. :toast:
