Something local for a change this was taken about 100 metres from our house in the dry river bed. This is one of a pair who visit us fairly regularly. Classified as vulnerable this has all but disappeared from the rest of South Africa, but has increased greatly in our area, thanks to the local farmers.

That's a cool bird Ken. Nice colors and comp. Maybe it's my eyes but it seems to need a slight CW rotation... unless he was on a slope. Nice shot!

A very pleasing photo of this beautiful crane in it's equally beautiful habitat Ken. The large version is a must see.

Excellent composition!

Very cool yard bird, Ken! Nice composition. I wonder if you could tease some detail out of that pretty white cap?

A beautiful bird well captured Ken. Very serene
I didn't manage to photograph any on my recent trip.

I was amazed to spot over 100 of them in a field about 100 metres from the road between Caledon and Grabouw. I stopped and looked for a way to get close but I could not find a way.

Beautiful bird, Ken. I really like your composition with the included habitat. The ground looks a tad bright and oversharpened, though. Easily fixed. :toast:
