Stones, River, Ferns

This was made two years ago along the Merced River in Yosemite. When I made this exposure, I visualized the square crop in order to accentuate the near stones, the river flow and the ferns. I did a slight burn of the slope in the background.

That scene looks familiar. Really nice, Preston. Love the layers and colors look spot on. Excellent Yosemite image.

Preston, I like this a lot! As Harley and Nancy mentioned the layers in this work great and you have wonderful (and natural) color. I like how the water flows through the scene too. Nice work!

Really nice usage with the color neg film here, Preston. To me it looks like it portrays the colors spot on and the extra speed was probably nice with the water shutter speed and overall exposure in general.
Can't beat the Merced for side line views like this one........very nicely done....

Strong layered composition, beautiful water, nice dynamic range, appealing colors and sweet light. What's not like. Beautiful image.

I may echo a lot of the comments already stated, but it is what I see. The layers are beautifully framed and conveyed to the viewer, and the colors are sweet.

Beautiful work!

Whoa, thumbnail does not do justice to this. Lovely image. Personally I would selectively darken it however it is a preference. :toast:

I also like the layers and the colors are very nice. I think the whole composition works very well and the blur of the water is just right.

Yes, the foreground rocks and flow of the river are great. The ferns add a fine color change. I think you could burn the slope even a bit more, it's brightness attracts more of my attention than I like.

This is excellent, Preston. The layers are simply fantastic and your SS choice looks perfect to me. This is just a personal preference, but I could see going just a touch darker with the bank. Either way I like what you have composed here.

Lovely intimate and painterly scene, Preston. I like how the ferns and grasses soften the look of all the rocks without distracting from the overall feel. A very balanced presentation of all the elements there. Beautifully done.

This has so many beautiful elements, and they all go together well to make this a superior image. I hope you spent a lot of time in this little space taking some intimate shots too - so many possibilities!
