This sighting occurred on Christmas Day 2011.
There we were innocently following a coalition of 3 male Cheetah, they caught the young Gnu. Moments later the Wild Dogs arrived stole the poor littlr blighter from the Cheetah and killed it beside our vehicle. The Cheetah killed a Male Impala later,Unfortunately I did not have my wide angle handy

Wow, it must have been amazing to be this close to this scene Ken, a fine capture nice sharpness all around. I agree with you that a wider angle would have been great. :toast:

Can't believe 70mm wasn't wide enough Ken....very cool to be that close to the action. Nice techs on this and it is pretty damn impactful.

What an experience! Yes, wide angle would have been cool....But, as I look at this I realize the photo is really all those noses going into the bloody body cavity. I especially don't think most audiences would really respond well to the expression and glassy eye of the victim. How about a strong crop, left and bottom. I am thinking left edge at the shoulder or elbow of the left most dog. Then then bottom for ratio, making the center of the frame the angled convergence of all those noses and foreheads. I think it would provide a completely different feeling for the scene, still graphic, but shifting our attention also to all the nice lines and angles.

Thanks everybody, just realised that I did not explain that the kill took place at the side of our vehicle, I was hanging out the side

Gruesome it is . . . but this is the way it goes in the wild. I bet that pure antelope disappeared in 5 minutes at most. Nice document image :toast:
