Athabasca Crossing

Recently returned from a couple of weeks in the Canadian Rockies. The clouds finally cleared just after sunrise for some great lighting on the peaks. The left side of the image seems to lack a little compared to the right - being boulderless, but I'd be interested in your thoughts on this. I do have an image with just the reflection, but I personally like the added boulders for depth and interest. Thanks for the look.

Beautiful light and clouds. I like these boulders and I agree that they add some depth to the image. The lack of boulder on the left does not bother me (sure it might be better to have another small one there  ).

Gorgeous picture Harry! The reflection is perfect, and the pattern under water adds a very nice element to it.

This is really nice Harry. Great light and clarity. I like the composition very much as posted. I'm trying to imagine where I'd place another boulder or two and what shape they should be and I'm not imagining anything I'd like better. The reflections and existing stones add a lot of depth to the image. Just superb for my tastes. No suggestions.

This works well as is Harry. Stunning crystal clear reflection more than makes up for a few missing rocks on the left.

What a great image. There's a really nice ascension from left to right. But your processing really brings this to life. The darker top and bottom highlight the mountains beautifully.

Harry, I like this side to side, as is. I would suggest a small crop of the large overhead dark cloud, leaving enough to explain the change in the water reflection. :toast:

Harry: One of my favorite places on the planet. I really appreciate how you arranged your camera position to place the reflections in just the right locations. Superbly crafted image.>=))>

This is beautiful. Thought I recognised the location as one of the best spots off the Icefield Parkway on the thumbnail. The opening in the cloud works very well.

Thanks for all of the comments. There are indeed may great opportunities along this stretch of the Parkway. Just wish I had more time to explore more of them. Beautiful country.

This is a beautiful shot Harry. I especially like the way the rocks show through in the reflection of the dark cloud in the foreground, and how it transitions to the brighter area of reflected sky near the mountains. This also has a very film-like quality to it that I enjoy.

The boulders could have made for a stronger balance and interest, but that is very minor!! I love this capture Harry as is, and I think the crystal clear water leaves plenty of interest in the foreground. This is such a sweet image, and you captured it beautifully. :toast:

This baby is dripping with mood and I love that mirror image of the mountains, Harry. It would have been nice to have another boulder on the left, but in no way is it a deal breaker. You got some great light here and I hope you post the other image. Excellent work!
