A Handsome Brute

I made this sort of vertical from a larger photo as I thought it made a better image to showcase this nice black-tailed buck. He had just completed a session with another large buck. Not sure who the winner was. But getting a pretty clear shot of the head is a challenge in my area, so I took advantage of it. This is about 50% of full frame to which I then added a little extra exposure, a lot of contrast, some warmth, and some clarity while lessening the highlights and whites a little. Suggestions and comments very much appreciated.

I think this is my favorite photo of your recent deer images. I like the comp and the way you have the buck sort of framed by the foliage in front. Nice work all around. Thanks for sharing.

Good catch of this buck! Very busy, but you have managed to make sense and use of it.

Much better buck Peter. Good job staying with these guys. I would suggest a tighter crop starting from the bottom of the buck, removing the foreground which does not add anything to the portrait. :toast:

Isolating the impressive antlers against the dark tunnel in the otherwise busy environment makes this work.

Nice detail and I like the head on look at the buck & his rack Peter.
Great setting and this comp works for me :toast:

Hi I like that I can see the antlers against a darker background sometimes they can blend in too much. Nice job :-)
