Wasatch Fall + Repost

I made this image two weeks back close to Bald Mountain in NE Utah. This was taken late in the evening as the sun was going behind the mountains creating a nice glow all around. The fall was spotty - close to Park City, it was early fall with little coloration, but near peak a few miles north.

48mm (62mm EFL), ISO200, 1/15s@F/10, -2/3Ev, CPL, tripod, cable release.

I look forward to your comments.

Beautiful scene with lots of fine detail, especially seen in the large version. Not sure about that one tree top cut off, though.

I agree with Ronald, beautiful scene with real popping colors, but I am on the fence with the cutoff tree at the top. I might consider cropping down to deliberately cut off the tree, maybe into the bright green top center?

Govind,

I agree with Ron and Harley about the cut tree and also with Harley about some crop from the top into the green on the right. Beautiful image and processing otherwise.

Govind, nice colour and exposure. I agree with the others. A natural break exists along the top where the other green tree starts and down the left removing the pine. :toast:

This is really beautiful and well composed. I agree regarding the missing tree top. The crop suggestion sounds good unless you have a version that includes the tree top.

Thank you all for your feedback and suggestions. The sky starts just above the image top and it looked kind of flat and hazy. I didn't think it combines well with rest of the image, so I have left it out.

Here's a version cropped to the tree lines. It certainly looks better. Would like to hear your thoughts on it. :wavey:

This is a beautiful fall secene with some rich colors. I am not really glad about the cut off tree at the top. Otherwise a very beautiful fall landscape image

Govind,

I prefer the repost but would probably crop down a bit more so that all the trees are cropped at the top. I suspect this is just personal preference but I prefer the consistency of it. I'll be interested in what others think.

Beautiful light and color in the trees. I like how you've got the small trees at the bottom and some open space between them and the trees in the back. I agree that having to cut off the top of that one tree creates a distraction. The crop improves things, but I agree with Pat, that cropping a bit further down works even better. I think it does create a different image, one where the emphasis is on the two small trees at the bottom and the rocky clearing.

The color and detail look good. May I suggest a further crop? Crop down to just above the red tree (maple?) on the right. Once you've done that, bring the brightness up just a bit.
