Not an easy bird to capture, especially hard to isolate it from its environment. Good composition and detail. Well done.

Cool crest spread there, nice pose as he leans right Tjie.
Great detail/DOF & I like the branch that arches through your frame too..
I might consider selectively bringing up the eye/head a bit?
Well done

Tjie,
Great bird, great pose but like Howard I think a slight lightening would help

Thanks for your comments and suggestions. I completely agree that the bird needs to be lightened a little bit. Please find the new version. -Tjie-

Tjie, I like the repost. It really draws attention to the bird's head.

Nice use of the flash again, Tjie. I like the minimalistic image. The background looks a tad bright - maybe selectively darkening it will help.

Sweet shot Tjie! I like everything about this photo. The re-post is a definite improvement, it make this guy pop. The use of the flash worked well for you here. Great details on the Cardinal and the background is beautiful. The raised crest makes it more special IMO.

I like the curved branch and the nice head turn. I also thought the original was a bit dark and I like the lighter bird on the repost, but I might also darken the BG a touch.

Tjie,
Simply incredible! I love the color and the second iteration you posted the best. Did you consider cloning the bright light ibehind the bird out? Wonder how that would look.
