This is another "strange" flower from the spring bloom in the Skilpad section of the Namaqualand National Park, in the extreme west of South Africa.
It was momentarily sunny

Ken: What a unique flower! I have no idea of scale or if you were shooting up or down but a slightly higher camera position if possible to eliminate the light area along the top would suit me a little better. A tighter crop might also work. >=))>

Well, this flower is sunshine, itself! Looks exotic in all its fine detail. What about darkening the background a little? It looks fairly "ordinary" i.e., not specific to S. Africa, so reducing its appearance in the image would bring the flower to its rightful place at center stage. Also agree with Bill on the overall comp.

Ken - What a cool looking flower - looks like nature is holding up a nice torch.

Agree with the suggested treatment to the background

Really nice Ken. I agree with the BG suggestions, but really well captured bloom.

Thanks everybody for the suggestions in particular the crop.
This is a purely South African plant being part of the Fynbos kingdom, which is one of the 7 plant kingdoms in the world, the smallest and totally within South Africa :toast: :toast: :toast:

I'm glad you took the suggestions, Ken. Certainly and exotic looking bloom. The crop and darkening really bumped this up a notch. Well done! :toast:
