Great Egret at it's best

I found this beauty outside of Charleston this Spring at a rookery I stumbled upon. There were so many egrets it was amazing. I captured this one showing the neon green face patch and breeding plumage. I liked the branch position and the legs. I cropped so you can clearly see others around to get the feel of the area.

Nikon D300 f8 1/100 ISO 640 Nikon 200-400.

Does this work ? I learn from every post. Comment and critiques please.

Good pic of the Egret in breeding plumage. There is a definite blue color cast to the whole image, easily removed in PS and most photo editing programs. If you have the room, a bit more canvas at the bottom would help.

If you selectively edit the bird, there is still some color cast there you can get out.

Nice display pose and plumage detail, Andrew. It looks to me like you might have a bit of a color cast-you might want to check your whites. I like the composition. I didn't see Phil's comment-the repost still looks a bit blue.

They say third time is a charm. I grabbed the eye dropper and looked around for something neutral. What say you now ? I appreciate the input from all.

Each re-post shows improvement. But really, there's no substitute for calibrating your monitor. It's well worth the investment to buy a Spyder or something similar.
