'Before the Storm'

Great Blue Heron contemplates as the ominous clouds roll in before the storm. Full frame , hand held from boat. I worked with a B&W conversion of this image as an overlay to the original color version at 30% opacity to manage this effect.

MIke, this is finely dramatic and sure makes it seem like that's one nasty storm rolling in. Your processing puts a fine emphasis on the heron...might be worth toning down the white in its belly and the surrounding cloud, but that's a very minor nit on a neat vision.

Your creative processing has produced a very dramatic 'Before the Storm' effect, I like the result Mike.
Well done! :toast:

Cool effect, Mike. Something like orton effect but better for controlling how the lighting looks? I like it-- nicely done! Perhaps a little more definition of the heron's belly against the white sky? Or not…
