OR Big Red Sage is what I am told this is. If its not, please correct me. Again a new Salvia variety for me. The purples in the background come from Russian Sage.

LARGE VERSION <--- Link to Large Version.

I shot this at Olbrich Botanical Gardens in Madison, WI.

Thanks a lot for your comments on Medusa Waterlily ? and let me know what you think of this one.

Hi Ram--nice details and soft light work well in this image. The bright red spot is a slight distraction for me. Other than that, I like the composition and placement of the open blooms in the upper third of the image :wavey: ..................Jim

How graceful does the stem of flowers reach for the light! Beautiful detail in the blooms. Lovely and subtle bg color. I think the red circle at the bottom is a bit too bright, Ram…

Very pretty, Ram. I like the curving stem and what looks like the "foggy" bg. My first reaction after clicking on the thumbnail was that I wished the stem did not bisect the oof red flower in the bg but, after reading the comments of others, I tend to agree that the red spot itself distracting. I think it stands out quite a bit because it is so different than the rest of the bg. :wavey:

I understand the issue of the red spot in the background  , it would have been great without it. Was not possible. I could have shot bottom up but then it would leave the stem at the bottom somewhat out of focus.

Ram, there is nothing here for me to dislike, including the OOF magenta at the base. To me it isn't a distraction, but more a bit of dynamic tension. As long as it is of appropriate size, color and texture, it can be viewed as easily a bonus for the eyes as a distraction.

Beautiful image, Ram. Loved the symmetry you've managed in this image. The flowers look like a pair of praying mantis !!!

Sorry Ram, on my screen, the flower seems way oversharpened with a jagged white halo around it. But, I will say, that the BG is perfect for this type of composition. I've never seen a post of yours, that I thought was not, absolutely, outstanding....but this one just doesn't fit in with your work. :frown:

A magenta spot in the background is enough for making special this photo. All the rest is an excellent work, for me, with splendid colors.
Take care,
