After Many Winters

Here's another from my archive. I am always amazed that these old Western Juniper thrive at high elevations in the Sierra, surviving many brutal winters.

Summer 2009, recently reworked.

Please see the large version. Thanks!

Beautiful, warm swirls and textures Preston. The presentation looks great and you've created/captured a warm mood as well. I'd like this on my wall and in my portfolio.

Beautiful tones and textures in this Preston. Looks like a birds head (ostrich maybe) up at the top. Really nice find and processing. Nice.

I'm a sucker for wood textures! There are so many imaginary beasts here. This reminds me so much of our Southern Red Cedar, which survives in a hostile environment of tidal salt marsh and sand. :toast:

It's always a treat to view your abstracts, Preston, and for me the gnarly wood are the best. In past lives, I have been both a logger and furniture maker (refined rustic) so I have a well developed taste for cool pieces of wood either raw or refined. I'll definitely toast you on this one. :toast:

Beautiful patterns and texture, and the color is spot on. Just came back from doing some of the same, hope it comes out half as good as this. Beautifully seen and presented Preston.

This is a most interesting composition to my eye. I also appreciate the delicate details as well as the natural colors.
