A little bit of a different composition I tried here. Always amazed how these rocks spin around and make holes in the rock. Heavy overcast and rain made for flat light.

I like this a lot, Bill. A terrific comp. The pothole adds a very pleasing element. Well done. Chet

Very nice composition, and I like the shutter speed for the water. I might warm up the white balance a little.

I think this is awesome, Bill. Love the tension between the still pool and the rushing water. Beautifully done. :toast:

Sweet comp, Bill. Nice contrast between the stream and FG elements.

Pretty amazing Bill, I've seen these pot holes on Trout Brook in the Adirondacks, fascinating to say the least, I like this alot, and the pot hole brings a lot of interest to the scene. Beautiful work.

Striking composition Bill. Great contrasts in texture and energy throughout the image. I also wonder what this would be like as a black and white. Beautiful work.

Very pleasing, with the hole adding a lot to this image. The white water brings your eye right down to it. I don't even mind that the rocks are not in focus. At 1 sec exposure, there easily could have been some water movement on top of the rocks.

Yes, Bill, I too enjoy the potholes and imaging the process that creates them. I like the look into the hole set nicely against the moving water with lots of interesting details in the rocks and the water. The water looks a touch blue to me.

Bill, I like this a lot! Really an interesting comp that works great. The water motion looks and works great here. The contrast between all the motion and then the detail of the rock is very nice. I like the color in this as well. Almost looks like it could be the Presque Isle River in western Upper MI. Very nicely done! :toast:

Very nice depth and a lovely composition, Bill. I think this could be warmed up just a bit. Nice detail, and the water look great.

Thanks for the comments guys. Here's a repost with slightly warmer white balance. Any better?

Bill,

I like both but I tend to like dark, cool and moody so I prefer the first. From a technical standpoint the repost may be stronger but it seems to me to not quite have the same emotional intensity as the first.

I like both, but truthfully, I don't see all that much difference. There is so much else to like here that a minor change in WB doesn't really weigh for much. :toast:

fascinating, comparing the two. I don't see a big color change, but the repost seems sharper with maybe a touch more clarity (or pop).

Yeah! I like that pothole and smooth rock surrounding it… reminds me of my clay ashtrays… this combination is just beautiful and invites the eye to the still water of the pothole and the crashing cascades behind. Well done!

Really nice comp and find Bill. I think I like the warmer version better. I see a little hot spot in the water near dead center where I may try to bring some detail back into

An extremely interesting and very informative take here, Bill. I do like the push toward a warmer scene too, but easy enough to enjoy at any level with this fine composition.
