Another from the 23rd. This was close enough that the fog had minimal effect, but it was processed to get full use of the histogram.

1Div, 500mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, hand held, f7.1, 1/640, iso 500, pattern metering, aperture priority, processed in LR5 & CS6. Cropped to 10.9 MP from the original 16. Taken at 8:18 am on August 23rd.

Your comments are always appreciated.

Thanks,

Can't find anything to complain about this post. Great light and nice low POV. Terrific feather detail. Some catch light in the eye would enhance the image but certainly not a show stopper. Very we'll done Dennis! :toast:

Very nice Dennis. Wonderful detail and I like how you got down low to take the shot.

Hi Dennis,

I like this version of the killdeer the best. Head detail is excellent and background is nice and sharp. ...........................Jim

Nicely done, Dennis. Typical browsing habitat the Killdeer is in. :toast:

This is gorgeous, Dennis! A little more detail or highlight in the eye, perhaps? But wow, this is great.

Nice one, Dennis! I was just commenting on one of Hans' images that there is a long list of species here in Alberta that have avoided allowing me a good capture over the years, and this is one of them. I live on a peninsula on a large reservoir now and see these guys weekly, but every time I've tried for a shot I end up with almosts. This is a very solid shot with great techs and wonderful detail in the plumage of what can be a very shy species (at least around my stomping grounds!).
