Very nice, Scott. I really like how you caught this bee just before touchdown. Interesting haw this dahlia grew almost perpendicular to the ground.

Excellent, in-flight catch, Scott, without a flash. That bee is sure loaded but clearly looking for more. You caught it at just the right moment with a fine background. I also like the comp. with a good amount of negative space.

Just gorgeous, Scott ! I love this kind of shot with its sense of depth and the insect caught small in its approach to the flower. Excellent capture of the bee in flight too.

Nice colorful BG, sharp detail & great light Scott.
Reminds me of our flower garden, before the Texas summer heat started burning everything up:frown:
Well done!:toast:

Howard, you can send some of that Texas heat this way. We've had one of the mildest summers on record. So far, only 9 days this summer hit 85 degrees and we've yet to reach 90. Most summers, we'll get 85 nine days in a row at some point and at least a few days in the 90's. My AC budget doesn't mind, but the swimmers, boaters, waterparks, and pool stores (one of which just laid off my son) are not happy. :frown: Oh, and the dahlias are only 1/2 the usual size this time of year.

Hi Scott :wavey: Here in Canada the weather is finally just right  :jump:  lets hope the nice weather comes your way    To me, the dahlia is saying "i dare you" to the bee, and the bee is thinking about it, funny how we can imagine things we see.  love the colors and detail here :toast:

Scott, - Great action captured. I love the pollen sacs on the legs of the Bee visible so nicely.

As an aside, due to improper storage by an employee at the Gardens, no Dahlias this year for me unless I get to travel to Chicago again. It will be about 2 years for the Gardens to have access to more bulbs through Dahlia Society.

Scott:

Great freeze action shot - there seems to be some communion between bee and the flower.
